Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s latest comedy-drama, Bhool Chuk Maaf, is off to a promising start at the box office, collecting Rs 20.41 crore within just three days of release. According to data from Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 3.91 crore on its third day, maintaining steady momentum across theatres.
The film recorded a 25.18% overall Hindi occupancy, with morning shows registering an 11.50% turnout – a notable figure for a mid-budget film.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to social media platform X on Saturday to share the opening day figures and offer his insight into the film’s performance.
“#BhoolChukMaaf springs a big surprise, exceeding all expectations on its opening day, aided by discounted ticket pricing. The industry projections were way below the mark, but the strong spot bookings turned the tide. The national chains performed very well on Day 1, but business beyond the metros – as well as at non-national chains – was equally strong… A solid jump is expected today [Saturday],” he wrote.
Adarsh also compared the film’s opening to another recent Maddock Films release.
“Interestingly, #BhoolChukMaaf has outperformed #Maddock’s earlier release #ZaraHatkeZaraBachke, which had opened at ₹5.49 cr. #ZHZB benefitted from the Buy-One-Get-One [#BOGO] offer on Day 1 and throughout its opening weekend… #BhoolChukMaaf has managed to post better numbers. #BhoolChukMaaf [Week 1] Fri ₹7.20 cr,” he wrote.
Directed by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf stars Rajkummar Rao as Ranjan, a lovelorn man who finally secures a government job to win the approval of his girlfriend’s family and marry Titli Mishra, played by Wamiqa Gabbi. But just as wedding festivities begin, Ranjan finds himself inexplicably stuck in a bizarre time loop, reliving their Haldi ceremony every day while everyone else remains blissfully unaware.
Besides Rajkummar and Wamiqa, the film also features a strong supporting cast including Seema Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Raghubir Yadav, Ishtiyak Khan, and Purnima Sharma.
