Honor 400, Honor 400 Pro launched: 200MP camera, new AI features,, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and more – Technology News

Posted on 24 May 2025 by financepro

Honor is back with two enticing new smartphones for buyers shopping in the midrange space. The Honor 400 comes in as a good choice for those seeking a pretty midrange phone with decent cameras. On the other hand, the Honor 400 Pro offers a bit more for those who seek an edge in terms of raw processing, camera performance and faster charging. Both phones are currently available for purchase in the UK and the rest of the European market. An Indian launch is yet to be confirmed by the brand’s Indian distributor.

The Honor 400 is strictly a midrange Android phone with an accessible price tag, trying to compete with the likes of the OnePlus Nord 4, Nothing Phone (3a) and other accessible midrange devices. The Honor 400 Pro is gunning for the flagship killer territory with a beefy Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a versatile camera system and a faster charging solution. It will compete with the likes of the OnePlus 13R and the upcoming Nothing Phone (3).

Here is everything you need to know about the Honor 400 series handsets.

Honor 400: What does it offer?

The Honor 400 is pretty loaded for a midrange Android phone, featuring a 6.5-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display with 5,000 nits of peak brightness and 3840Hz of PWM dimming. Relying on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, you get either 8GB or 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage. Honor’s MagicOS 9.0 sits on top of Android 15 and Honor promises six years of OS upgrades, which is unseen in the segment. A 5,300mAh battery keeps the handset alive and with support for 80W fast wired charging, it should fill up the cell in little time. The device also gets IP65 and IP66 certification for resistance to water and dust ingress.

Since Honor phones are all about the cameras, the Honor 400 gets a 200MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS backing. This is assisted by a 12MP ultrawide camera that uses its autofocus feature to offer macro photography. Both the sensors can record 4K videos. The front camera utilises a 50MP sensor for selfies and 4K videos.

There’s lot of AI stuff too. Honor provides features like AI Editing, AI Image to Video (preserves 3 seconds of live moments via Google Cloud), AI Eraser, AI Outpainting, AI Erase passers-by, and AI Remove Reflection. There’s Gemini too, in case you wondered.

Honor 400 Pro: How much of an upgrade is the Pro?

The Honor 400 Pro upgrades the display to a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz curved edge display with up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness. Instead of a midrange chip, the Honor 400 Pro uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip from last year, which is paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB storage as standard. This one also runs on Android 15-based MagicOS 9 and is slated to get 6 Android OS updates. The 5,300mAh battery remains unchanged from the Honor 400 but you get faster 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging (both proprietary).

The camera setup also sees an upgrade. While the 200MP main shooter and the 12MP ultrawide sensor are carried over from the Honor 400, the new addition is the 50MP telephoto camera with a Sony IMX856 sensor with 3x optical zoom and 4K video recording.

Honor 400 series: Price and availability

The Honor 400, available in Desert Gold, Lunar Grey and Midnight Black colourways, starts at Euro 499 (approximately Rs 48,485). On the other hand, the Honor 400 Pro comes in Lunar Grey and Midnight Black colurways at a starting price of Euro 799 (approximately Rs 77,600). The Indian prices are expected to be slightly different though.
