The Lava Shark 5G is the latest entrant in the highly contested budget smartphone space and to mark itself apart, Lava has done what it does best – offer a catchy design. Similar to previous affordable smartphones from Lava, the Shark 5G resembles the latest iPhone 16 from the back and for many, that’s a great attribute. The provision of 5G connectivity and a low price tag of Rs 7,999 is icing on the cake.
The Shark 5G is available via most retail outlets as well as Lava’s online store from May 23. The company is also offering a free service at home for buyers of the Shark 5G. The Lava Shark 5G joins the Redmi A4 5G and Redmi 14C 5G as one of the very few smartphones offering 5G connectivity for less than Rs 10,000.
Lava Shark 5G: Specifications at a glance
The Shark 5G brings an iPhone 16 lookalike design to this entry-level 5G smartphone segment. Available in Stellar Gold and Blue colourways, the phone offers a glossy back panel with a large camera hump and a couple of lenses.
When it comes to the technical specifications, the Shark 5G comes with a 6.7-inch HD+ resolution LCD display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. A 6nm Unisoc T765 chipset takes care of the processing tasks, which is assisted by 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. A 5,000mAh battery takes care of the power backup and Lava offers a 10W charger in the box for filling it up. Note that the phone supports up to 18W faster charging. Out of the box, it comes preloaded with Android 15.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Lava Shark 5G comes with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The phone is also certified IP54 for water and dust resistance.

The Lava Shark 5G will be available in two colourways and a single storage variant at a price of Rs 7,999. The Shark 5G has gone on sale from May 23 and you can buy it from Lava’s online store as well as various retail outlets.
