The GIFT Nifty implied a higher start despite a drop in the US markets. The Wall Street fell as investors turned cautious over trade uncertainty.
Earlier on Monday, the NSE Nifty 50 closed the session 114.45 points or 0.47% higher at 24,461, while the BSE Sensex rose 295 points or 0.37% to close at 80,797.

Asian Markets
On May 06, major Asian indices, including Japan’s Nikkei 225, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng, Korea’s Kospi, and many others, were closed for trading on account of Greenery Day. However, Australian stocks opened on a flat note.
US markets
The US stock markets snapped 9-day winning streak as investors turned cautious amid renewed global trade uncertainty. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 98.60 points, or 0.24%, to finish at 41,218.83. The S&P 500 fell 0.6% to finish at 5,650.38, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.74% to close at 17,844.24.
US dollar
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the dollar’s value against a basket of six foreign currencies, was down 0.21% at 100.04 on Tuesday morning. The index evaluates the strength or weakness of the US dollar in comparison to major currencies. The basket contains currencies such as the British Pound, Euro, Swedish Krona, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, etc. The rupee appreciated 0.30% to close at 84.25 to the dollar on May 05.
Crude oil
The crude oil prices rose on Tuesday. WTI crude prices were trading at $57.90, up by 1.37%, while Brent crude prices were trading at $61.08, up by 1.52%, on Tuesday morning.
FII, DII data
Foreign institutional investors (FII) were the net buyers of shares worth Rs 497.79 crore. The Domestic institutional investors (DII) were the net buyers of shares worth Rs 2,788.66 crore on May 05, 2024, according to the provisional data available on the NSE.
Gold rate today
The gold prices have retreated from the all-time high, but still trade near the same level. The rate for 24-carat gold today is Rs 95,060 per 10 grams. The rate of gold is down by 0.65% from last one week. The 22 kt gold rate today is Rs 87,138 per 10 grams. The 18-carat gold price today is Rs 71,295.
