Aamir Khan has locked the release date for his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, the sequel to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. Sitaare Zameen Par is a much anticipated film due to the immense popularity of the first movie of the franchise, Taare Zameen Par. The theatrical trailer for the movie will be released on May 1, along with Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2. Here’s when Sitaare Zameen Par will hit the theatres.
The movie is set to release on June 20, 2025, according to a Pinkvilla exclusive report. Although there was speculation about the movie releasing on May 30, the date was pushed forward by Aamir Khan to ensure that the movie gets a good box office window and can avoid any major competition, reveals Pinkvilla’s source. The source said, “Aamir is looking to capitalise on the open run in the month of June. Initially, he was contemplating to arrive on May 30 , but a June 20 release is giving him a two-week clear run at the box office.”
Pinkvilla’s source further revealed that the edits of Sitaare Zameen Par are done, and now Aamir Khan wants to focus on promoting the film and presenting it to the audience in the best possible way. “Aamir strongly believes in the content of Sitaare Zameen Par, as it rides on his formula of laughter-emotion-drama. He was looking for a good window and has found one with a June 20 release. The entire marketing plan of this social dramedy is locked,” the source said.
The source further added that the trailer will be released on the big screen soon, along with Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2. “The trailer is locked and Aamir is targeting to attach the trailer to Raid 2. The idea is to communicate the date directly to the cinema-going audience, and Raid 2 is a film which is expected to do well at the box office. This is his plan at the moment, but knowing Aamir, there could be last-minute changes too,” said the source.
The movie is Aamir Khan’s comeback as an actor after his Laal Singh Chadha in 2022, which underperformed at the box office. Thus, Sitaare Zameen Par holds high expectations for both him and his fans. Also, this film will mark Genelia Deshmukh’s comeback to Bollywood.
Apart from Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir is in headlines for various other films, including a comedy film with Rajkumar Santoshi, a superhero film with Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Sunny Deol-starrer Lahore: 1947, which is speculated to release in the second half of 2025.
