Travellers heading to Delhi and across several other major highways in India will face increased toll expenses starting April 1st, following a notification from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to revise toll rates.
The NHAI has announced a toll hike ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 15 for cars, jeeps, and vans at the Gharaunda (Karnal) and Ghaggar (Ambala) toll plazas. Heavy vehicle toll pass fees have seen a more substantial increase, rising by over Rs 750, reaching Rs 1000.
Gharaunda Toll Plaza:
- Effective April 1st, the single-side toll rate for cars will be Rs 195, and the double-side toll will be Rs 290.
- Car usage for a single journey will cost Rs 185, and a double-side trip will cost Rs 280.
- Monthly toll pass fees for buses and trucks will increase to Rs 21,750 from the current Rs 21,000.
- Residents living within a 20 km radius of the toll plaza will also experience a Rs 5 to Rs 10 increase in their toll pass fees.
Ghaggar Toll Plaza:
- The Ghaggar toll station has increased toll costs for cars and jeep-vans by Rs 5.
- Monthly passes have increased by Rs 145.
- The payment for buses and trucks stands at Rs 475 for the toll pass.
Varanasi-Gorakhpur NH-29 Expressway:
- Toll expenses for travelers on the Varanasi-Gorakhpur NH-29 Expressway will increase by 5% from midnight on March 31st.
Rohtak City Toll Plazas:
- Toll booths located at Makdauli and Madina, along highways crossing Rohtak City, will implement new rates on April 1st.
- Car operators will pay an additional Rs 5, and bus and truck owners will pay an additional Rs 10 under the revised NHAI toll pricing scheme.
The NHAI’s decision to increase toll rates across various highways is expected to impact travel costs for both private and commercial vehicle users. The increased toll charges will apply to many travelling towards the capital city of Delhi.
