On World Liver Day on April 19, Home Minister Amit Shah opened up about his weight loss journey. He revealed that he ensured his path to fitness in just three simple steps – change in his daily diet, more focus on sleep and regular exercise. While he shared his weight loss tips, he urged the youth to “live another 40–50 years and contribute to the country’s progress” by focusing on their fitness.
The Union Minister was addressing an event at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) on the occasion of World Liver Day on Saturday, where he advised the youth to follow a daily routine of two hours of physical exercise and six hours of sleep to maintain good health.
“I have achieved a very big change since May 2019 till now. Right amount of sleep, pure water, food and exercise, I have achieved much in life. In the last 4.5 years I have become free from all allopathic medicines,” he said shedding light on his own fitness journey.
“It has improved my ability to work, think, and make decisions,” he said, emphasising on the fact that these lifestyle changes made an impact on not just his physical health, but also his mental well-being.
He also added, “I request young people to dedicate two hours to physical activity and at least six hours of good sleep. This has worked wonders for me, and I believe it can work for others too.”
Shah did not just share his personal journey, he also urged corporate houses and companies to give more importance to liver health and invest in research and treatment facilities. “Supporting institutes like ILBS can go a long way in improving public health infrastructure,” he also said.
At the event, the minister inaugurated an Integrated Liver Rehabilitation Centre at ILBS.
