An American Airlines flight attendant has gone viral after sharing a heartwarming encounter with Meghan Markle during one of her recent commercial flights.
Taking to TikTok, flight attendant Nina Vida revealed that she had the unexpected honor of serving the Duchess of Sussex. Gushing from her hotel room, Vida excitedly recounted the moment, saying, “You guys will not believe who I had on my flight — the queen, the princess, the Duchess of Sussex.” According to Vida, the crew was thrilled to have Markle onboard and even passed her a handwritten note that read, “It’s a pleasure serving you! Love you real bad.” The message was signed by the “AA girlies,” a playful nod to the all-female crew.
To their delight, Markle, 43, responded with a handwritten note of her own, scribbled on a small cocktail napkin. “Dear AA girlies, thank you for the love, hospitality and handwritten note — you know me well,” she wrote. “All love right back to you.” She signed off with “As ever, Meg,” a subtle reference to her lifestyle brand, As Ever, though some fans initially misread the message as “Forever, Meg.”
Vida, still starstruck, shared more details of her brief exchange with the former Suits star and With Love, Meghan podcast host. She recalled Markle complimenting her manicure — a moment that felt like sweet vindication after a captain on a previous flight had called the look “intense.” “She said she loved my nails,” Vida said, beaming. “So, sir, it doesn’t matter what you think. The queen says she likes them.” Though Vida wasn’t able to snap a photo with the duchess, she treasured the handwritten note, captioning her video: “No picture but I love a hand written note.”
Fans quickly flooded the comments section, reacting with excitement and envy. “That note!!! Laminate it, frame it, put it in a lock box at the bank!” one wrote. Another added, “This is unreal. Wow. You are so lucky!!” A third joked, “How does it feel to be living our dreams?” while others were amazed she flew commercial: “She flies commercial? Wow, walking the walk she talks!” Markle’s appreciation for handwritten notes is well-known. On her now-closed lifestyle blog The Tig, she once described them as a “lost art form,” saying, “The idea of someone taking the time to put pen to paper is really special.”
