Apple is widely expected to unveil its much-awaited iPhone 17 series in September 2025. According to various leaks and insider reports, the Cupertino-based company plans to launch four variants: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a newly rumored model reportedly called the iPhone 17 Air. Every iPhone 17 model — including the standard and Air versions — is anticipated to come equipped with 120Hz ProMotion displays. This marks a significant shift from the iPhone 16 lineup, where only the Pro editions offered high refresh rate screens. Apple is also likely to implement LTPO OLED technology throughout the entire range, enabling support for Always-On Display functionality.

iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max design:

A significant design update expected in the iPhone 17 lineup involves a change in construction materials. Unlike the iPhone 15 and 16 Pro versions, which featured titanium frames, Apple is rumored to be returning to aluminum bodies for all iPhone 17 models—excluding the Air variant, which might incorporate a titanium-aluminum hybrid. This shift reportedly supports Apple’s environmental initiatives, as aluminum production generally results in a smaller carbon footprint compared to titanium. Another anticipated alteration concerns the rear camera design. Numerous leaked prototype units indicate that Apple may abandon the current squircle-shaped camera bump in favor of a rectangular module encased in aluminum.

iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max camera:

In terms of photography, Apple is reportedly enhancing the front-facing camera on all iPhone 17 models, doubling the resolution from 12MP to 24MP. Substantial upgrades are also expected on the rear camera systems. The Pro Max variant is rumored to include a 48MP tetraprism telephoto lens for advanced zoom capabilities. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Air is likely to feature a single 48MP wide-angle lens, much like the one found on the iPhone 16e. Despite having just one rear camera, Apple may boost its performance through advanced computational imaging techniques.

iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max chipset:

Beneath the surface, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air are anticipated to run on Apple’s upcoming A19 processor, while the Pro variants are expected to be equipped with the more advanced A19 Pro chip. In terms of memory, reports suggest Apple may boost RAM across most of the lineup, with three out of four models potentially offering 12GB—an upgrade from the 8GB found in select current models.

iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max price:

The next generation of iPhones is expected to see a modest price increase this year. In India, the starting price for the iPhone 17 could be around Rs 89,900, with the top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max potentially hitting Rs 1,64,900. In the United States, the entry-level model is likely to be launched at approximately $899, while the Pro Max may be priced as high as $2,300. Meanwhile, in Dubai, consumers might see prices starting at AED 3,799, with the premium variant possibly reaching up to AED 5,399.
