There are two new whiskeys in town for drinkers who count pennies or pour plenty – Lifestyle News

Posted on 24 May 2025 by financepro

Just when you think you’ve seen it all on the whisky shelf, something, or in this case, two somethings, comes along to shake up the narrative. Radico Khaitan, one of India’s most respected spirits companies, has unveiled not one, but two distinctive whiskies that sit on opposite ends of the spectrum. One is a bold, budget-friendly blend designed to speak to the driven, the daring, and the dreamers. The other is an elegant single malt steeped in heritage, crafted to capture the imagination of true connoisseurs. Different in style, intention, and price – Morpheus Super Premium Whisky and TRIKĀL Indian Single Malt are not here to compete. They’re here to offer two very different answers to one timeless question: what makes a great whisky? Let’s look at the two new whiskeys in the market.

Morpheus Super Premium Whisky

Radico Khaitan, the name behind the wildly popular Morpheus Brandy, is now raising the bar (literally) with Morpheus Super Premium Whisky. It’s a whisky built not around tradition or nostalgia, but momentum. Think high energy, late-night ambition, and the kind of focus that doesn’t fade when the lights dim.

Crafted from imported Scotch malts and fine Indian grain spirits, and matured in bourbon barrels, Morpheus Whisky is all about smooth edges and bold structure. Expect a balanced profile – floral on the nose, fruity on the palate, and a finish that keeps up with you. It’s clearly made to be versatile: a celebratory pour, a post-work pick-me-up, or a weekend unwind, all in one bottle.

Speaking on the launch, Abhishek Khaitan, Managing Director at Radico Khaitan, shared, “With Morpheus Whisky, we are proud to extend this powerful legacy into the super-premium whisky segment. This launch represents not just a strategic milestone for Radico Khaitan, but also a toast to the next generation of achievers who redefine success on their own terms.”

The campaign message—#BeYourDream—isn’t just branding fluff. It mirrors the spirit of the drink: aspirational, but grounded. It’s whisky not for where you started, but for where you’re headed.

Price range: Rs 1200 – 1500.

Accessible? Yes. Ordinary? Absolutely not.

TRIKĀL Indian Single Malt: A Meditation on Time

If Morpheus is the spirit of ambition, TRIKAL is the essence of reflection. Meaning ‘past, present, and future’ in Sanskrit, TRIKAL is Radico Khaitan’s deeply poetic take on the Indian single malt. Born at the historic Rampur Distillery, an 80-year-old sanctuary of spirit-making, this whisky isn’t just a drink. It’s a story.

From the name to the blend, TRIKĀL is about timelessness. A dram that feels just as appropriate during a quiet evening alone as it does at a long, indulgent dinner. It opens with warm spices and soft vanilla, glides through ripe stone fruits and toasted oak, and finishes with whispers of honeyed peat and gentle smoke. It’s layered, elegant, and intentionally complex—a whisky you don’t just sip, but contemplate.

Amar Sinha, COO at Radico Khaitan, described the brand’s philosophy behind TRIKĀL, saying, “TRIKAL is a result of passion and precision. Every element, right from the selection of barley to the rare combination of casks used for maturation, to carefully curated whisky that is layered, complex, and uniquely Indian. We have blended tradition and technique to create an indulgent experience that connects with the deeper essence of time itself.”

Positioned firmly in the premium category, TRIKAL is priced between Rs 3500 and Rs 4500 and is initially available in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Maharashtra, with plans for a broader rollout both in India and abroad.

For those who love their whisky with meaning, this bottle has a soul. It’s for the thinkers, the storytellers, and those who enjoy their drink like they enjoy their conversations—slow, textured, and worth returning to.
