Samsung has started manufacturing its thinnest phone yet, the Galaxy S25 Edge, in India. The device was officially released worldwide, including in India, on May 13. A Samsung representative stated that the Galaxy S25 Edge caters to users looking for a sleek, lightweight device that doesn’t compromise on power and performance.
As per data from market intelligence firm Counterpoint Research, Apple and Samsung together were responsible for 94 percent of all smartphones produced in India in 2024. The report highlights that Samsung led the production charts by volume, capturing a 20 percent share of the market last year.
In the first quarter ending March, Samsung secured a 17 percent stake in India’s smartphone market, aided by a broadened product lineup. The brand’s premium S series, particularly the S25 Ultra, played a significant role in helping Samsung achieve its highest-ever share in the high-end smartphone segment.
“Galaxy S25 Edge is for users, who are looking for a slim and easy-to-carry phone that’s also high on performance. It comes with all Galaxy AI features, including multimodal AI, that allow users to interact with the device in real-time through vision and voice. Galaxy S25 Edge is being manufactured at the Noida factory in India,” a Samsung spokesperson told PTI.
