Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chhattisgarh on Sunday to lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate multiple development projects worth over Rs 33,700 crore across various sectors. The event, to be held in Mohbhatta village, Bilaspur district, is expected to witness a massive gathering of around 2 lakh people.
According to officials, the prime minister will arrive in Bilaspur at 3:30 PM, where he will virtually initiate these projects, marking his first visit to the state after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Boost to Power Sector
Strengthening Chhattisgarh’s power sector, Modi will lay the foundation stone for NTPC’s Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III (1x800MW) worth over Rs 9,790 crore. This ultra-supercritical project aims to enhance power generation efficiency. Additionally, he will commence work on Chhattisgarh’s first Super Critical Thermal Power Project (2x660MW) under CSPGCL, valued at Rs 15,800 crore.
Further, three power transmission projects under POWERGRID’s Western Region Expansion Scheme (WRES), worth over Rs 560 crore, will be dedicated to the nation.
Focus on Clean Energy and Infrastructure
To support India’s net-zero goals, Modi will lay the foundation for BPCL’s City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Korea, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Surguja, which includes a 200-km high-pressure pipeline and 800-km MDPE pipeline worth Rs 1,285 crore. The Visakh-Raipur Pipeline (VRPL) Project of HPCL, spanning 540 km and valued at Rs 2,210 crore, will also be launched, catering to fuel supply across the region.
Rail and Road Connectivity
The prime minister will lay the foundation stone for seven railway projects (108 km) and inaugurate three railway projects (111 km), worth Rs 2,690 crore. Additionally, he will flag off a MEMU train service in the Abhanpur-Raipur section and dedicate the 100% electrification of Chhattisgarh’s rail network.
In road infrastructure, he will inaugurate two major highways, including the Jhalmala-Sherpar section of NH-930 (37 km) and the Ambikapur-Pathalgaon section of NH-43 (75 km). He will also lay the foundation stone for the Kondagaon-Narayanpur section of NH-130D (47.5 km), with all projects totaling Rs 1,270 crore.
Education and Rural Development
Modi will dedicate 130 PM SHRI Schools across 29 districts, upgraded under the PM Schools for Rising India scheme, and inaugurate the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Raipur, enabling real-time monitoring of education programs.
Additionally, under PM Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), 3 lakh beneficiaries will receive new homes, with Modi personally handing over keys to select recipients.
These projects, spanning multiple sectors, aim to bolster Chhattisgarh’s infrastructure, education, energy, and rural development, reinforcing the central government’s commitment to holistic progress in the region.
