Terrorists affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed by unidentified gunmen in the Sindh region of Pakistan on Sunday. The development comes weeks after an LeT offshoot called the The Resistance Front was linked to the deadly Pahalgam terrorist attack. India has repeatedly called for Islamabad to curtail terrorism in order to improve diplomatic ties and contended recently that the other country had a “list of terrorists” that needed to be handed over.
According to a PTI report, Razaullah Nizamani Khalid alias Abu Saiullah was gunned down near a street crossing soon after leaving his residence in Matli on Sunday afternoon. He had reportedly been provided security by the Pakistani government. Khalid had been a top commander with the LeT and the brains behind several major attacks in India.
He headed the terror operations of Lashkar-e-Taiba from Nepal in the early 2000 and masterminded several horrifying attacks against India. This included the 2005 Indian Science Congress attack in Bangalore, the 2006 attack against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh headquarters at Nagpur and the 2008 CRPF camp assault in Rampur. Several people had been killed in the successive attacks — which also marked a significant escalation in LeT operations on Indian soil.

A close associate of terrorist Abu Anas, he had been in-charge of the Nepal module of LeT, responsible for the recruitment of cadres, providing financial and logistic support and facilitating the movement of LeT operatives across the Indo-Nepal border.Khalid was working closely with LeT’s so-called “launching commanders” — Azam Cheema alias Babaji and Yaqoob (LeT’s chief accountant).Khalid left Nepal and returned to Pakistan after Indian security agencies exposed the module. He later worked closely with several leaders of LeT and Jamaat-ud-Dawah, including Yusuf Muzammil, LeT commander for Jammu and Kashmir, Muzammil Iqbal Hashmi and Muhammad Yusuf Taibi.
Local media reports indicated that Khalid had been declared ‘brought dead’ after bring taken to the hospital. It also dubbed it a case of personal enmity.
