US President Donald Trump has reignited his long-running feud with pop icon Taylor Swift, posting on his Truth Social handle on Friday that the singer is “no longer hot” since he publicly expressed his dislike for her. “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT’, she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” Trump posted, sparking a wave of online backlash.
The inflammatory comment comes after Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for the 2024 presidential election. “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift posted on Instagram following the first and only debate between Harris and Trump.
Swift, who has a history of criticising Trump, previously accused him of undermining democracy. In 2019, she called his leadership style “autocratic”, and in 2020, she condemned his remarks during the George Floyd protests, accusing him of fueling white supremacy.
The feud also flared during the 2025 Super Bowl when Swift, attending in support of her partner, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, was booed by some fans. Trump then wrote on Truth Social, “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
Social media users swiftly rebuked the US President’s distasteful comments. One user on X wrote, “This isn’t presidential. I never thought Donald Trump would stoop so low to tweet about Taylor Swift in such a manner. It’s unfortunate.” Another added, “Taylor Swift criticised Trump once, years ago… and he’s been obsessed ever since. It’s not politics. It’s just a fragile man who can’t handle the world’s most famous woman not liking him.”
