Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has finally broken his silence on the recent Pahalgam terror attack and retaliatory strike, ‘Operation Sindoor’. In a post on X, Bachchan narrated the chilling story of a couple who were on vacation on the tragic day of April 22. He described how a terrorist ”dragged the innocent couple out”, stripped the husband, performed his ”religious duty”, and despite the wife’s desperation pleas, ”shot him mercilessly,” leaving her wife a widow.

Bachchan pays tribute to Pahalgam terror attack victims
Recalling the terrorist’s words to the grieving woman, ‘‘Nahi! Tu jaake ‘…’ ko bata”. Bachchan drawing a reference upon the tragic incident with a line penned by his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, he wrote, ”Hai chita ki rakh kar maine, mangti sindoor duniya’’ (With the ashes of the pyre in her hands, the world asks for vermilion). He described that it was as if the woman went to that ‘ …’ and asked for justice, and she was given ‘’sindoor’’ in return.
Hailing India’s response, Bachchan praised Operation Sindoor as not just a military retaliation but a symbolic sign of restoring dignity. ”Operation Sindoor!!! Jai Hind. Jai Hind ki Sena!” The operation, headed by two women officers, a Colonel in the Indian Army Sofiya Qureshi and a Wing Commander Vyomika Singh in the Air Force, targeted nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In his tribute, he added, ”Tu na thamega kabhi, tun a mudega kabhi, tun na jhukega kabhi” inspired by his father’s iconic poem Agnipath, reinforcing the message of fearlessness and strength.
Concluding his comment with ”Kar shapath! Agni path! Agni path! Agni path!”, Bachchan’s post served both as a homage to the innocent civilians who lost their lives and a call for national unity.
