Ajay Devgn starrer Raid 2, which is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, surpassed Shaitaan, which was another film starring Ajay Devgn and directed by Vikas Bahl. The film has performed decently in the opening week of release. It has crossed the Rs 90 crore mark at the end of its 7th day. According to Industry tracker Sacnilk, on day 8 (Thursday) the film earned Rs 90 lakh till 2 PM.
Raid 2, starring Ajay Devgn, had a strong opening at the Indian box office, collecting Rs 19.25 crore on its first Thursday. However, collections saw a significant drop on the first Friday, earning Rs 12 crore, a decrease of 37.66%. The film rebounded on its first Saturday and Sunday, grossing Rs 18 crore and Rs 22 crore respectively, showing positive growth. The weekdays saw a sharp decline, with Monday earning Rs 7.5 crore, Tuesday Rs 7 crore, and Wednesday Rs 4.75 crore.
Raid 2 is the second part of Raj Kumar Gupta’s crime thriller Raid, featuring Ajay Devgan as the lead character. Similarly, Ileana D’Cruz played Devgn’s wife in the first part, but this time Vaani Kapoor has replaced her in the sequel. Also, Saurabh Shukla, who played the chief antagonist named ‘Tau Ji’, a powerful politician who held black money through tax evasion.
Amit Sial also carries on with his role as a morally ambiguous Income Tax Officer from the first part. Ritesh Deshmukh joins the cast in the sequel as a corrupt politician, Supriya Pathak as his mother, and Rajat Kapoor as the IT Commissioner. However, Ajay Devgn plays the same role of Amay Patanik, an altruistic IT Officer, who conducts a relentless raid on a corrupt politician’s premises.
