Coal India Ltd (CIL) on Wednesday released its fiscal fourth quarter earnings report with profit at Rs 9604.02 crore, surpassing estimates. This was up 12.04 per cent as against Rs 8572.14 crore recorded during the corresponding quarter of FY24. It posted revenue from operations at Rs 37,824.54 crore, down 1.02 per cent as against Rs 38,213.48 crore reported during the fourth quarter of previous financial year. The company EBITDA stood at Rs 11,790 crore.
According to a CNBC TV18 poll, Coal India was expected to post Q4 profit at Rs 7678 crore and revenue for the quarter in review was estimated at Rs 37,389 crore.
For FY25, revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,43,368.92 crore as compared to Rs 1,44,762.42 crore in the previous fiscal. Profit After Tax (PAT) came in at Rs 35,302.10 crore as against Rs.37,369.13 crore on-year. The EBITDA rose to Rs 51,640 crore, which is 41 per cent on net sales as against 40 per cent in the last year.
CIL has attained the capex of Rs 19,410.02 crore compared to Rs 23,475.41 crore during the previous fiscal.
Dividend announcement
The Board of Directors of the company recommended payment of final dividend for the financial year 2024-25 @ Rs 5.15 per share of the face value of Rs 10, subject to the approval of the Members at the ensuing Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the company. “The dividend would be paid within 30 days from the date of declaration at the AGM. The record date for final dividend would be fixed and intimated in due course,” it said in a regulatory filing.
Physical performance during Q4 and FY25
CIL recorded coal excavation of 237.69 million tonnes (MT) during the fourth quarter of FY25 compared to 241.76 MT in the same period of the previous fiscal. CIL’s OB during Q4 stood at 576.36 million cubic meters (M.CuM), reflecting a 3 per cent year-on-year increase over the 558.75 M.CuM recorded in the corresponding quarter last year. Offtake for the quarter remained stable at 201.38 MT compared to 201.63 MT in the same period of the previous year.
Coal India Limited has achieved a coal production of 781.05 MT, OB removal of 2018.20 M.CuM and Offtake of 763.06 MT in the current fiscal with a growth of 1 per cent, 3 per cent and 1 per cent respectively in Coal Production, OBR and Offtake.
