Rachel Zegler’s social media rants have clearly established her political beliefs. The 23-year-old actor who plays the titular character in Disney’s live action remake of Snow White has been repeatedly making headlines for her support for Palestine and vehement criticism of Donald Trump.
She’s notably been in the news for the same possibly more than being in focus for the Snow White cinematic premiere. The movie hit theatres last week. Served with brutal box office numbers, the Disney movie currently has a 1.6/10 IMDb rating and 42% Tomatometer score.
Rachel Zegler hate train continues
Jonah Platt, Snow White producer Marc Platt’s son, has since blamed the the film’s failure on Rachel Zegler’s politically themed social media expression. In a now-deleted Instagram post, he criticised the actress for “dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting a movie.”
On August 12, 2024, just days after Rachel Zegler graced the stage at Disney’s D23 fan event, she took to her X to thank fans for hitting the 120 million view mark on the Snow White trailer in 24 hours. In the same thread, she added, “an always remember, free palestine,” a bit later.
According to Variety, the Disney raised concerns over the Snow White star’s political statement, and the issue was brought to Zegler’s attention. Marc Platt, the film’s producer, flew to New York to directly address the issue. Pro-Palestine supporters and activists soon came to her rescue as it was reported that she stood her ground and refused to remove the post.
This side of the internet has long been behind Zegler while directing criticism at her co-star Gal Gadot, who is Israeli, and has previously made her pro-Israel stance clear on social media as well. In addition to one of her speeches voicing her take on the Israel-Palestine divide, she profusely stood by the country. “I stand with Israel you should too. The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening,” she captioned her October 2023 IG post.
Nonetheless, only Rachel Zegler ultimately became Jonah Platt’s target, who, in a response to an Instagram comment, confirmed that his father “had to fly across the country to reprimand” the actress.
Snow White producer’s son rips Rachel Zegler for movie’s box office failure
“Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country and reprimand his 20 year old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get and do publicity for,” he commented.
“This is called adult responsibility and accountability. And her actions clearly hurt the film’s box office. Free speech does not mean you’re allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repurcussions,” he continued.
Further unleashing his wrath, Jonah Platt went on, “Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desire at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful. Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.”
NEW: The son of ‘Snow White’ producer Marc Platt absolutely unleashes on Rachel Zegler for ruining his father’s movie.

The Rachel Zegler vs Gal Gadot
An insider also fumed at Zegler after Gal Gadot reportedly began to receive surging death threats after her ‘free Palestine’ post. “She didn’t understand the repercussions of her actions as far as what that meant for the film, for Gal, for anyone,” the source told Variety. As a result, Disney had to pay for beefed-up security for Gadot and her family.
Zegler, on her part, has also received increased hate, ever since the Latina star was cast as Snow White. She further provoked right-wing critics’ ire for saying that Prince Charming “literally stalks” the Disney princess in the original film. “It’s no longer 1937,” she added. “She’s not going to be saved by the prince, and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love. She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be.” All her comments were slammed for being “too woke.”
The movie has long been plagued by controversies, which continue to make noise even after its much-delayed premiere.
