Hundreds of BluSmart driver-partners staged protests across Delhi-NCR on Sunday, demanding compensation and alternative employment, weeks after the electric ride-hailing company suddenly shut down its services. The drivers, left without work or clarity on next steps, are seeking support from the company.
BluSmart ceased operations in mid-April 2025 after an SEBI report barred its promoters from accessing capital markets and holding board positions. The action followed allegations of funds being siphoning off and forgery of documents related to Gensol Engineering — the solar EPC firm closely associated with BluSmart.
“We demand answers from BluSmart and accountability from government authorities and regulators. It’s unacceptable that platform companies operate without oversight. We also want our dues,” said Vijay Kumar, a driver participating in Sunday’s protest.
Before shutting down, BluSmart had over 10,000 driver-partners working with the platform. Now, drivers say they’ve been logged out of the app and are unable to log back in. “We haven’t been able to log in since Thursday. The OTP just doesn’t come. It feels like they’ve completely abandoned us,” said another driver-partner.
BluSmart’s financial structure had been a lifeline for many. Drivers earned between Rs 25 to Rs 40 per hour and were guaranteed minimum daily earnings of Rs 400. Monthly earnings ranged from Rs 12,000 to Rs 50,000, often bolstered by generous incentives — as high as Rs 8,000 a week for top performers.
