Meta’s popular social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, faced a massive global outage on Tuesday, leaving users worldwide unable to access key features. According to multiple media reports, many reported that the apps and websites were not functioning properly, preventing them from posting content.
Downdetector, a platform that monitors service disruptions by gathering reports from multiple sources, received a surge of complaints. The majority of issues were related to Instagram, with users experiencing difficulties loading comments and posting updates.
The outage tracking website recorded a surge in reports around 6:30 PM IST. At the same time, numerous Facebook users began experiencing platform-related issues. According to Downdetector, more than 4,000 users in the US reported significant issues with Instagram. Approximately 63% faced problems with comments, 30% experienced app-related glitches, and the remaining 7% encountered server connection difficulties.
On Instagram, users primarily reported problems with the comments section, stating that while their stories and posts displayed comments, they were unable to view them.As of now, Meta has not issued an official response regarding the outage.
The reason behind the outage remains unclear, and there is no confirmed timeline for the full restoration of services. As the disruption persists, users are encouraged to check official Meta channels for updates.
