IndiGo Airlines faced operational disturbance over the weekend with two separate incidents drawing attention. In the first case, a ground support vehicle crashed into a stationary aircraft at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, and in the second case, passengers on a Delhi-Indore flight reported cabin discomfort because of ineffective air-conditioning before the takeoff.
Bus hits parked aircraft, no injuries reported
On Friday afternoon, a mini bus managed by a third party ground handling agency slammed into a non-operational Indigo aircraft parked at Bengaluru’s airport. The incident took place at approximately 12:15 PM on April 18.
However, an airport official confirmed there were no injuries. ”All necessary protocols were followed in coordination with relevant stakeholders,” stated a spokesperson from Kempegowda International Airport.
The aircraft, which was not in service at the time of the incident, suffered minor damage, prompting an internal analysis.
IndiGo acknowledged the incident and mentioned, ‘’We are aware of the ground incident, involving a parked IndiGo aircraft and a third-party ground vehicle. Investigations are going on, and appropriate action will be taken.’’
IndiGo flight from Delhi to Indore report air-conditioning issue
Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Saturday, passengers aboard IndiGo flight 6E 5074 from Delhi to Indore faced discomfort as the aircraft’s air conditioning system failed to work properly while on the ground.
The airline confirmed this issue and mentioned in a statement to PTI, ”The air conditioning system was not as effective on the ground, causing passenger inconvenience. The cabin cooling recovered after takeoff.” As per Flightradar.com, the flight was operated using an A321 aircraft.
One passenger complained that the cabin was uncomfortably warm before departure. While the issue was solved mid-flight, the incident has raised concerns among flyers.
IndiGo added, ”We prioritise customer comfort and are taking proactive steps to prevent similar issues.”
