One of Bollywood’s oldest and most loved action franchises, Dhoom, is officially gearing up for its next chapter, with Dhoom 4 in active development under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The film will reportedly feature Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role and there are major updates on the film.
According to a Pinkvilla report, YRF head Aditya Chopra and acclaimed screenwriter Shridhar Raghavan are currently developing the script for Dhoom 4. “Aditya Chopra has been closely involved in developing the story and screenplay of Dhoom 4 with Shridhar Raghavan. They are currently working on the story draft that’s worthy of the hype around the reboot with Dhoom 4,” a source revealed to the publication.
The insider also confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor is excited about joining the franchise. “Ranbir is the apt choice for Dhoom 4, and the character is also designed keeping his aura and personality in mind. The new Dhoom film is being designed keeping the global action standards in mind, and the visual palette, as also storytelling, will be very different from the already established YRF Spy Universe,” the source added.
While final casting and production schedules are still being worked out, the makers are aiming to begin filming by April 2026. Talks are reportedly underway with director Ayan Mukerji, who previously worked with Kapoor on Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Brahmāstra.
Alongside Dhoom 4, Ranbir Kapoor is set to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious historical drama Love & War, opposite Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The film, which marks Bhansali’s return to large-scale storytelling, is expected to showcase Ranbir in a powerful, dramatic role.
