TCS secures Rs 2,903-crore BSNL order for 4G rollout at 18,685 sites – Industry News

Posted on 22 May 2025 by financepro

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services company, announced on Wednesday that it has received an add-on Advance Purchase Order (APO) worth approximately Rs 2,903 crore from state-run telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The order is part of BSNL’s ongoing efforts to roll out its 4G mobile network across the country.

According to a regulatory filing, TCS will be responsible for the planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and annual maintenance of 4G mobile network infrastructure across 18,685 sites. The company stated that BSNL will issue detailed purchase orders in due course, subject to certain conditions and documentation being fulfilled.

In a separate exchange filing, Tejas Networks, a Tata Group company, confirmed that under its Master Contract with TCS, it will supply, deploy, and maintain equipment for the BSNL 4G project. Tejas stated that the value of its supplies for the Radio Access Network (RAN) and related equipment is expected to be approximately Rs 1,525.53 crore, excluding taxes. The company also noted that TCS will issue detailed orders upon completion of the necessary formalities.

This development builds on a major contract secured in 2023, when a consortium led by TCS won an advance purchase order worth over Rs 15,000 crore from BSNL for the pan-India deployment of a 4G network. Tejas Networks played a key role in that consortium by supplying RAN equipment.

The announcement comes shortly after TCS reported its Q4 FY25 results, with a net profit of Rs 12,224 crore—a 1.7% decline compared to the same quarter last year, largely due to margin contraction. Despite the dip, the company posted a 5.3% rise in revenue for the quarter at Rs 64,479 crore. For the full fiscal year FY25, TCS reported a net profit of Rs 48,553 crore and revenue of Rs 2,55,324 crore, marking a 5.99% year-on-year growth.

The new APO from BSNL marks another milestone in TCS’s efforts to contribute to India’s digital infrastructure and telecom expansion.
