Cricket fans in Mullanpur have every reason to cheer as the city’s New Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium has been allotted two key IPL 2025 play-off games, according to the revised schedule announced by the BCCI on Tuesday.
After hosting four league matches this season, Mullanpur will now witness high-stakes action with Qualifier 1 scheduled for May 29, featuring the top two ranked teams, followed by the Eliminator on May 30, which will see the third and fourth-placed teams battle it out for survival.
So far, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans have confirmed their places in the play-offs. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are still in the race for the fourth and final spot. If Punjab Kings manage a top-two finish, they will play Qualifier 1 in front of their home fans at Mullanpur. However, if they finish third or fourth, they will feature in the Eliminator instead.
Meanwhile, Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will host the remaining two marquee matches of Qualifier 2 on June 1 and the grand finale of IPL 2025 on June 3.
The revised schedule comes after the tournament faced a brief suspension earlier this month due to escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan. Originally, Hyderabad and Kolkata were slated to host the play-off matches but the IPL Governing Council shifted venues citing “weather conditions and other logistical parameters”.
Earlier in the season, the Mullanpur stadium hosted four league-stage matches from April 5 to April 20. The PCA has confirmed the new development and has ramped up preparations to ensure smooth conduct of the high-profile fixtures.
