YouTuber Manish Kashyap was physically assaulted by junior doctors at a hospital in Patna. He was reportedly allowed to go only after submitting a written apology. The incident took place after Kashyap visited Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) to advocate on behalf of a patient and allegedly misbehaved with a female doctor. He has now been admitted to a hospital.
A post on Kashyap’s Facebook page confirmed his hospitalisation, stating, “Manish Kashyap is admitted to the hospital. Please pray to God for his speedy recovery….” The post included photos showing him lying on a hospital bed with an oxygen mask, surrounded by medical staff.
What has happened?
As per several reports, Manish Kashyap misbehaved with a female doctor on duty. Not just this, he was also recording videos inside the hospital premises of the verbal altercation with junior doctors, which reportedly made matters worse. As per a report by Dainik Bhaskar, Kashyap has denied allegations of misbehaving with a female doctor on duty.
The police soon arrived at the scene to calm down the angry doctors.
Police took him to the station
Manish was involved in a confrontation with the daughter of a Sub-Inspector (SI) posted in Patna, Bihar. The junior doctors reportedly tried to forcibly take Kashyap from the hospital campus to the hostel when police officers from the Thana Out Post (TOP) located within the Pirbahor police station campus arrived. The police escorted him to the outpost for safety.
A crowd of junior doctors gathered outside the outpost, and Kashyap was held inside for nearly three hours as his supporters and the police worked to defuse the tense situation.
The junior doctors were reportedly so enraged that they intended to take Kashyap to the hostel, tie him up, and beat him.
Kashyap tendered a written apology
Kashyap was later required to write an apology letter, after which the matter was resolved. It is also reported that BJP leaders had to intervene to secure his release. His mobile phone was returned to him by the police afterwards.
After three hours, Kashyap came out of the police outpost with injuries visible on his face. He left the hospital by car with his friend Mani Dwivedi.
“Manish Kashyap misbehaved with the female doctor,” Dainik Bhaskar quoted Dr Vidyapati Chaudhary, Principal of PMCH, as saying.
ASP Diksha of Patna Sadar said police have not yet received any official complaint regarding the incident.
