Could this be a new manufactured controversy in the making on the set of Avengers: Doomsday? The highly anticipated Russo Brothers’ directorial is a year away from making its cinematic debut. In the meantime, the film continues to be the talk of the town despite several other Marvel outing preceding it in the lineup.
Hot on the heels of the commercial and critical success of Thunderbolts ringing in the New Avengers era, a fan is believed to have snuck onto the upcoming projected blockbuster’s set. Gone are the days when Spider-Man star Tom Holland would be in hot water for letting consequential MCU tidbits slip during interviews or livestreams, for here are the days when unauthorised footage of movie sets get leaked on social media. The Robert Downey Jr-starrer officially started filming in April 2025 in London.
Alleged sighting of Avengers: Doomsday set in viral video
User @TheyNeverSawItComing is said to be behind the new viral trend as their alleged experience of sneaking onto the Avengers: Doomsday set successfully did numbers on TikTok. As of now, fans merely have the so-called Marvelite’s word to take for it. In addition to blowing up on TikTok, the clip ultimately made an even bigger name for itself on X, formerly Twitter, where fellow MCU enthusiasts couldn’t help but rave about a possible easter egg they spotted in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment.

As the TikTok user attempted to blend in with their surrounding, they pointed their camera in the direction of various highlights, like cast trailers and heavy machinery in the lot. The admin even claimed to have caught sight of some actor. However, neither of the MCU icons are pictured in the clips. What ultimately WAS caught on camera through was enough to get fan-pages dedicated to superhero-themed pop-culture moments roaring in frenzy online.
Key MCU location spotted in perceived Doomsday set video
@TheyNeverSawItComing’s camera especially drew attention to a ‘Madripoor’ bar set. The fictional island in Southeast Asia is set against the backdrop of a criminal underworld landscape. Fans may have caught note of the location in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, with its connections reverberating across various MCU offerings such as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Moon Knight and Echo.

While the Madripoor sighting in itself has done wonders to seemingly confirm the Marvel set’s status, a major faction of the fan-following is not so convinced about the TikToker “sneaking” onto the location. Considering how airtight secrets related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe are, a good number of MCU stans are convinced that the whole thing was a set-up.
Internet reacts to viral Avengers Doomsday video: To believe or not to believe
Someone on X weighed in on the possibility, saying, “The TikTok clip, the Username, the fact that it did not immediately get sniped down by Disney… this is painfully staged as hell…” Yet another user poked sarcastic fun at the whole thing: “Yeah this definitely isn’t some stunt by Disney.”
Another person questioned the TikToker’s definition of laying on and blending in: “He walked around with a backpack on, phone out like he’s recording, and that’s how someone looks if they’re supposed to be there?”
Many others rebuked about the location possibly being nothing more than a random construction site. However, the other half of the fandom was quick to bring the Madripoor set back into focus. Someone even labelled the video as a “Getting arrested tutorial.” Meanwhile, obvious digs at the Spider-Man actor lurked in the shadows: “Tom Holland activities” and “Thats just Tom Holland spoiling stuff again.”
As many wondered if this could ultimately result in an arrest or the TikToker getting sued, others noted that he barely filmed anything of substance worth worrying or getting excited about in a “no spoilers spotted” video.
UPDATE: Marvelites continued arguing over the authenticity of the viral video as the clip remained available to watch on TikTok long after it was shared online. In a major update, the said TikToker told @Culture3ase on X that his video from Avengers: Doomsday set had been removed. The latest alleged Doomsday leak comes days after visuals of fallen sentinels, as previously seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past over a decade ago, went viral on social media. Rumoured details even signalled that the upcoming action extravaganza might finally bring on the desperately coveted epic showdown between the Avengers and the X-Men.
