A wave of concern and heartfelt messages has followed the announcement that former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that has metastasised to the bone, according to a statement released by his office on Sunday. The 82-year-old former President was diagnosed on Friday after experiencing urinary symptoms. Biden and his family are now in consultation with doctors to explore possible treatment options.
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” the statement from his office read, offering a measure of hope amidst the seriousness of the diagnosis.

On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone. While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management.”
