Baba Vanga’s warning comes true: This everyday device is endangering all generations – Technology News

Posted on 15 May 2025 by financepro

Baba Vanga, renowned globally for her strikingly accurate predictions, is said to have envisioned a time when people would grow increasingly reliant on compact electronic gadgets. She foresaw that these tools—now recognizable as smartphones—would drastically influence human behavior and psychological health. In her view, the very technology designed to make life more convenient could ultimately pose a serious risk to humanity’s overall well-being.

A study conducted by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in India revealed that approximately 24% of children use smartphones right before going to sleep. This growing dependency on mobile devices during nighttime hours can disrupt natural sleep patterns, hinder concentration, and potentially contribute to long-term academic challenges.

Research also highlights that excessive smartphone use among children is linked to rising cases of anxiety, depression, and attention-related issues. Furthermore, prolonged screen time often replaces physical exercise and face-to-face interactions, which are crucial for healthy emotional, social, and physical development in young individuals.

Mental Health Concerns

Anxiety and Depression:
The constant stream of notifications and the pressure to stay updated can heighten anxiety levels. Spending too much time on social media platforms has also been linked to depressive symptoms, feelings of isolation, and even thoughts of self-harm.

Digital Dependency:
Smartphones can become habit-forming, fostering a reliance on instant gratification and leading to compulsive usage. Many individuals find it challenging to unplug, which is a growing concern among mental health professionals (HelpGuide, OnlyMyHealth).

Reduced Cognitive Performance:
Prolonged smartphone use may impair focus, reduce memory retention, and hinder problem-solving abilities. Studies have shown that excessive screen time negatively affects cognitive functions (Frontiers in Psychiatry, HelpGuide).

Physical Health Implications

Visual Fatigue:
Spending extended periods staring at screens can result in symptoms such as eye discomfort, dry eyes, and blurred vision (CARE Hospitals).

Sleep Disruption:
Exposure to blue light from smartphones interferes with melatonin production, which can disturb sleep patterns and contribute to insomnia (WebMD).

Potential Radiation Risk:
Ongoing research is exploring the connection between long-term mobile phone use and the possible risk of developing cancer due to radiation exposure (Environmental Health Trust).

Postural Strain and Pain:
Poor ergonomics during smartphone use can result in neck stiffness, shoulder pain, and spinal discomfort (CMR National Public School).

Higher Risk of Accidents:
Using smartphones while driving or walking increases the likelihood of accidents due to divided attention and reduced situational awareness.

Social and Behavioral Effects

Decline in Interpersonal Skills:
Frequent digital interaction may come at the cost of meaningful in-person communication, leading to a reduction in conversational and social abilities.

Social Withdrawal:
Overuse of mobile devices can foster a sense of disconnection from real-world relationships and communities, contributing to loneliness and social detachment.
