What Premanand Maharaj told Anushka and Virat
The video starts with Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli kneeling down before Premanand Maharaj, to offer their respects. Guru ji then asks Kohli, “Prasann ho? (Are you happy?) Virat responded, “Ji, abhi thik hain (Yes, I’m okay),” to which Maharaj Ji gently replied, “You should stay well.”
Maharaj ji then went on to say, “Ye vaibhav milna kripa nahi hai ye punya hai. Bhagwan ki kria maani jati hai andar ka chintan badalna… Bilkul aise hi rahi jaise reh rahe ho bilkul sannsarik ban kar raho, lekin andar ka chintan apka badal jaye, usme yash ki bhavna na reh jaye… Andar ka chintan ye rahna achaiye ki ‘Prabhu bhot janm vyateet ho gaya ab mujhe aap chahiye’. (This prosperity is not merely grace — it is the result of virtue (punya). It is considered to be a movement toward the Divine. What truly matters is the transformation of your inner contemplation… Live just as you are living now, fully engaged in the world, but let your inner thought process change. Let there be no desire for recognition or fame within. Your inner contemplation should be: ‘Lord, enough of all worldly experiences, now, I seek only You’).
In the middle, Anushka is seen asking Maharaj ji if chanting name would be beneficial. “Baba, kya naam jap se ho jayega?”, she asked, to which Maharaj ji said yes.
Known for their spiritual leanings, Kohli and Anushka have frequently attended satsangs led by Premanand Maharaj. Their earlier visits in January 2023 and January 2025 drew similar attention, with fans appreciating the duo’s grounded approach to fame and fortune.
Premanand Maharaj, in previous public gatherings, has often spoken warmly of Anushka’s influence on Kohli, crediting her with helping the cricketing icon remain humble and spiritually connected despite the pressures of global stardom.
Virat Kohli’s retirement announcement
On Monday, Kohli announced his decision to step away from the longest format of the game, marking the end of an illustrious chapter in Indian cricket. The 36-year-old batsman leaves behind a legacy of grit and greatness: 123 Test matches, 9,230 runs, an average of 46, and 30 centuries to his name.
As Test captain, Kohli led India in 68 matches, winning 40—one of the best records in Indian cricket history. His aggressive style, fitness-first philosophy, and unshakeable commitment to the game transformed how India approached Test cricket, both at home and overseas.
