Amid escalating tensions and attempted air strikes by Pakistan in parts of Punjab, Western Railway has decided to short terminate and short originate several Amritsar-bound trains as a precautionary measure.
On Saturday, Western Railway announced that Train No. 19325 Indore-Amritsar Express, which commenced its journey on May 9, will short terminate at Ambala Cantonment instead of proceeding to Amritsar. Similarly, the 12903 Mumbai Central–Amritsar Golden Temple Mail will short terminate at Hazrat Nizamuddin between May 9 and May 12, effectively suspending its movement into the Punjab region.
Additionally, the 12904 Amritsar–Mumbai Central Golden Temple Mail, scheduled between May 11 and May 14, will short originate from Hazrat Nizamuddin, bypassing its usual starting point in Amritsar.
The move comes in response to heightened alert levels in border states following reported Pakistani drone and missile activity targeting Indian military installations, particularly in Jammu and Punjab. Authorities are taking extensive precautions to ensure the safety of passengers and rail infrastructure.
Railway officials have advised passengers to check the latest updates before planning travel on affected routes.
