Ajay Devgan and Ritesh Deshmukh’s starrer Raid 2, which is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, has managed to open strong at the box office on its opening week of release. Released on the 1st of May, the film enjoyed the benefit of the sequel factor. The film momentum was further fuelled by favourable audience feedback.
The film earned Rs 6.61 crore on day 8, stepping closer to the Rs 100 crore mark, as per Sacnilk’s report. Fuelled by the advantage of being a sequel factor and releasing on a holiday (Labour Day, 1 May), the Bollywood crime drama made a strong debut, collecting Rs 19.71 crore on its first day. With no major releases to compete with and positive audience feedback, the film had a solid run through its opening weekend, bringing in Rs 73.83 crore over the extended 4-day weekend. The film earned Rs 7.47 crore on Monday, followed closely by Rs 7.45 crore on Tuesday. On Wednesday, it saw a sharp drop to ₹4.81 crore; the film rebounded on Thursday, pulling in Rs 5.33 crore.
According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film has collected Rs 1.39 crore by 4:25 PM (Friday). However, it’s important to note that today’s data is not yet final and may be subject to change. In the meantime, it has already surpassed the total revenue collection of Bholaa.
