Adani Ports and SEZ share price rose 5.3% to an intra-day high of Rs 1,334.30 on the National Stock Exchange. The surge in the stock price came after representatives of his companies met officials from the US President Donald Trump’s administration to seek dismissal of the criminal charges against Gautam Adani in an overseas bribery probe, on Sunday reported by Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter.
The talks gained momentum in recent weeks. They began earlier this year and could yield a resolution in the coming months or so, if the pace persists.
The stock price of Adani Total Gas rose the highest to rise among the list of Adani Group stocks following the news. It was up 8.6% at Rs 657.45 on the National Stock Exchange. The flagship firm Adani Enterprises’ share price was up 6% at Rs 2431.90.
The case goes back to an allegation made on that Adani Green Energy bribed Indian government officials to win favourable solar energy orders. In November 2024, the DoJ (Department of Justice) indicted Gautam Adani and his nephew, Sagar Adani, alleging that they misled US investors during fund raises there.
Following the allegations, in December, Adani refrained from a $500 million loan with the US International Development Finance Corporation to finance a port terminal project in Colombo.
In February 2025, the US stock market watchdog SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), sought help from India’s Ministry of Law & Justice to serve ‘Notices of Lawsuit’ and ‘Requests for Waiver of Service of Summons’ on the Adani Group chairman and his nephew.
