Raid 2 Box Office Collection Day 3: Ajay Devgn’s film Raid 2 had a solid opening weekend at the box office but narrowly missed the coveted Rs 50 crore milestone by the end of Day 3. Despite strong buzz and decent word-of-mouth, the crime thriller managed to collect Rs 49.25 crore in its first three days, falling short by just Rs 75 lakh.
The film, directed by Rajkumar Gupta and a sequel to the 2018 hit Raid, opened to encouraging numbers on Thursday, bolstered by the Labour Day holiday in Maharashtra. It earned Rs 19.25 crore on Day 1. However, Raid 2 saw a 37.66% drop on Day 2, collecting Rs 12 crore. The dip was expected given its mid-week release.
Saturday brought some relief for the makers, as the film bounced back with a 50% spike, raking in Rs 18 crore, taking the three-day total to Rs 49.25 crore. The surge in collections is attributed to positive audience feedback, Ajay Devgn’s strong following in mass circuits, and the typical weekend boost.
Trade experts believe Raid 2 performed reasonably well given the stiff competition. The film faced a three-way clash at the box office — Hit 3 pulled strong numbers in the Telugu markets, while Retro managed to grab attention in Tamil Nadu. This fragmented audience base may have impacted Raid 2’s overall weekend performance.
Also starring Ritiesh Deshmukh, Vaani Kapoor, and Saurabh Shukla in key roles, Raid 2 now eyes a strong Sunday to cross the Rs 50 crore mark and maintain momentum in the coming week.
All eyes are on the film’s Sunday numbers to see whether it can make up for the shortfall and build on its opening weekend gains.
