Raid 2 box office collection day 2: Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 had an impressive start at the Indian box office, despite facing stiff competition from Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2. The sequel to the 2018 hit Raid performed exceptionally well on its opening day, earning Rs 19.25 crore, thanks to the partial holiday on Maharashtra Day and Labour Day. However, the film saw a significant dip in earnings on its second day.
Raid 2 Box Office Day 2 Performance
On May 2, 2025, Raid 2 earned Rs 11.75 crore on Day 2, marking a 38.96% decline from its opening day. As of now, the total box office collection for Raid 2 stands at Rs 31 crore. Industry tracker Sacnilk pointed out that this second-day dip was expected, given that the film’s performance on Day 2 occurred during a regular working day, unlike the holiday-driven first day.
Exceeded Expectations
Despite the drop on Day 2, Sacnilk commended the film’s opening performance, noting that it “exceeded expectations” due to the holiday factor. The report highlighted that the film was expected to generate a good start but not at the level it ultimately achieved.
“The trade was anticipating a little lower opening day, which still would have been a very good start, but here, the film showed what a sequel can do,” Sacnilk commented.
Star Cast and Plot
Raid 2 brings back Ajay Devgn as the determined IRS officer Amay Patnaik, who has conducted 74 raids. This time, he is pitted against a powerful politician, Dadabhai (played by Riteish Deshmukh). The film focuses on an intense income tax raid, with Patnaik battling corruption while facing off against a politician with considerable influence.
Industry Reactions and Comparisons
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Raid 2’s impressive opening. He pointed out that the sequel outperformed other major Ajay Devgn films such as Shaitaan, Drishyam 2, and Tanhaji on its opening day.
“Raid 2 takes a thunderous start on its opening day, aided by the partial holiday… Besides the holiday factor, the franchise power also played a key role in attracting footfalls,” Adarsh wrote.
He also highlighted the remarkable 96.31% growth Raid 2 showed over the first installment of Raid, which earned Rs 10.04 crore on its opening day in 2018.
“Raid 2 has registered a remarkable 96.31% growth over its first part, which is truly phenomenal,” Adarsh added, noting that the film’s future performance would be closely watched in the days to come.
