Despite being repeatedly rocked by divorce and breakup rumours, Kanye West and Bianca Censori have come together to sue a dentist they hold responsible for the controversial rapper’s nitrous gas addiction. The doctor in contentious focus installed the “Gold Digger” hit-maker’s $850,000 titanium prosthodontics last January.
Ye’s addiction first came to light when his former chief of staff sounded the alarm on social media in August 2024. Milo Yiannopoulos levelled serious accusations against West’s former dentist, claiming that the nitrous oxide addiction had rendered the rapper incapable “of successfully releasing music or clothing.”
In a social media diatribe, Yiannopoulos alleged that Dentist Thomas P Connelly gave the rapper “laughing gas” in hopes that it would allegedly diminish his mental faculties so that “Connelly and his business associated could extract million of dollars from him.”
Kanye West and Bianca Censori to sue dentist
According to a press release, the “Heartless” rapper and his Australian wife have now served the doctor with a formal notice of intent on Wednesday, stated a Page Six report. California law states that defendants must be served with a formal notification before they can be sued for medical malpractice.
Through this move, the couple sought to inform the self-proclaimed “Father of Diamond Dentistry” that they plan to sue him for medical malpractice, gross negligence, fraud, exploitation, reckless administration of controlled and uncontrolled substances and more.
Connelly is believed to have charged Kanye West $50,000 a month for the nitrous gas while he underwent cosmetic dental treatment from 2024 to 2025. As a result, Ye was left to “fend for himself with a serious induced addiction,” according to E!Online.
“You repeatedly administered or supplied nitrous oxide (‘laughing gas’) and/or other sedative substances to Ye in quantities and frequencies that had no legitimate dental or medical justification,” Kanye West and Bianca Censori’s lawyers wrote to the dentist. “Notably, you went so far as to deliver large ‘surgical-size’ nitrous oxide tanks to Ye’s personal residence (including the residence he shared with Ms. Censori), effectively enabling and encouraging him to inhale nitrous oxide outside of any medical setting.”
Kanye West’s addiction: Suffered mental distress after the dentist’s alleged involvement
The document further stated that the doctor instructed West “on how to self-administer nitrous oxide.” Additionally, the attorney argued that Connelly continued to supply the gas to the artist even though he started showing signs of erratic behaviour and “distressing neurological symptoms,” which were a given in light of the overuse.
In addition to the claims about getting West hooked on nitrous oxide, the controversial couple’s attorney alleged that Connelly administered a substance similar to propofol, which is an injectable sedative, to the singer. The dentist also reportedly discharged him without “verifying his medical soundness.”
West’s lawyers claimed in the letter that Ye ultimately suffered “extreme mental and physical distress leading to urgent medical care” after the incident. “Your actions and omissions were negligent, grossly negligent, and reckless, and some may have been intentional and malicious.”
Kanye West and Bianca Censori’s failing relationship also blamed on dentist
Speaking on behalf of West’s wife Bianca, the attorney also attributed the couple’s deteriorating relationship to Connelly’s involvement in the rapper’s life. They said, Censori has been “deprived of the companionship, support, services, and marital relationship of her husband” while his addiction continued to spiral out of control.
“Instead of a enjoying a healthy married life, she was forced to witness Ye’s physical and mental distress and deterioration,” West and Censori’s counsel wrote in the notice. They also hold the dentist responsible for the Australian model having to “assume the burden of caring for him under extremely distressing circumstances.”
Kanye’s nitrous oxide addiction has been fully blamed on Connelly as the notice mentioned that the rapper would not have encountered a dependency on the gas if it were not for the doctor’s misconduct. “The road to recovery from this induced addiction has caused, and will continue to cause, pain, suffering, and significant disruption to his life,” noted an extract of the notice.
Earlier this year, the couple made a shocking rare joint appearance at the 67th Grammys. Bianca Censori dropped her coat on the red carpet, leaving little to the imagination with a nearly-nude look. The incident was followed by much speculation whether Kanye had coerced his wife into participating in the ‘naked’ Grammy stunt.
The pair tied the knot in December 2022, less than a year after Kanye and Julia Fox parted ways.
