What happens in the Thudarum movie?
The movie starts with a regular family – to help audience to build some emotional connect with the characters. The heartwarming family and comedy scenes successfully drag viewers to the doors of suspense, and the movie soon turns into a serious thriller.
Initially, the movie shows how Benz admires his vintage Mark-I Ambassador the most in his life after his family, until the interval. In fact, he is named Benz because of his pure love for his car.
The plot actually starts the real drama when Benz’s car is seized by the cops. The car was at the mechanic’s workshop, as one of Shanmugham’s friends and Lalitha’s son, Pavi, unfortunately crashed the car. Later, the mechanic was charged with marijuana.
But the true reason for keeping the car at the station is way more than mere narcotics, which is kept behind the curtains by police officers CI George Mathan and SI Benny.
In the first half of the movie, Benz tries to get his car back from the cops, while the other half is all about Benz seeking revenge from CI George and SI Benny for killing his son, Pavi. George and Benny highly underestimate him, unknowingly thinking of him as just another taxi driver, unaware of his past. But Benz is a former stuntman, with expertise in hand-to-hand combat.
When Benz is unable to get his car from Benny throughout the day, he is sent to senior officer CI George by another cop who told him that officer is gentler and kinder. Indeed, George appears kinder as he orders Benny to return the car. But Benny, being stubborn, refuses to return the car even after the orders.
George convinces Benny as he whispers something secretly to him, pulling him away from Benz. After a brief discussion, George asks Benz if he will drop them at a friend’s wedding. Benz, eager to get back his car, begrudgingly accepts the proposal. After wasting a lot of time at the wedding, officers tell Benz they have some other place to visit as well now, a farmhouse. This made Benz a little suspicious, but unwilling to offend the cops and face severe consequences, he accepted to give the ride.
After wandering for hours, Benz finally gives up and confronts George, which makes George remove his mask of kindness and show his true colours, and next Benz finds himself at home the next morning. And the family dogs went crazy as they were unable to stop barking and sniffing the car boot. When Benz finally opens the boot, he is shocked to find bloodstains, and he hides it from his wife. The bloodstains are Pavi’s, and the reason why police were unwilling to return the car to Benz. As Benz was driving the cops around, his son’s body was in the boot.
Why was Pavi killed?
The murder was the result of George’s unapologetic rage, and Benny just helped him hide the body. As soon as George found that Pavi was romantically involved with his daughter Mary, it did not take long for him to murder Pavi. He warned his daughter not to get involved in any romantic relationship and put his honour at stake.
He did not hold back in the case of Pavi when he got his hands on him. He detained the young boy at the police station, beat him, and murdered him cold-heartedly. The body was later taken to the boot and disposed of in the woods on the outskirts of the town, which was later discovered, packed in a sack, due to a huge landslide.
George planned to put the blame on Benz claiming that he killed Pavi for molesting his own stepsister. It is important to note that Pavi was not Benz’s real son; he was Lalitha’s son from her first marriage. She married Benz after the death of her husband, who was a stuntman. But Benz turned out to be a great father, and loved Pavi as his own.
When Benz comes to know about his son’s death in police custody, he becomes desperate to learn the truth. He first tortures another policeman, Sudheesh (Farhaan Faasil), who was also in the car that night. But Sudeesh didn’t know much. Then he brings George to the lodge and tortures him. But many other policemen reach the location and capture Benz.
On the other side, Benny was forcing Benz’s wife and daughter to confess that Benz murdering Pavi. He assaults them in custody. Benz is then brought to the station and presented in court the next day, but the judge dismisses the hearing. Further, George tells Benny that he is retiring and will send policemen in the night to kill Benz in the cell.
How does the Thudarum movie end? Ending explained
In the end, the policemen go to kill Benz, but he was ready to take revenge for his son’s death. He beats everyone who comes his way. He takes his car to George’s home and calls him. George, on the other hand, was threatening his wife and daughter. On the call, Benz warns George that he will kill his daughter. When George arrives, Benz tells him that his daughter’s body is in the car boot; however, she was safe and sound at her home.
As the conversations soon turn into action, Benz strangles George to death using a plastic sheet, similar to how the cop murdered his son. Mary watches the scene and breaks down, which was more of satisfaction than grief. It is then revealed why George killed Pavi, turning out to be an act of honour killing. After this, Benz is arrested as George provides false information to the press about Benz being involved in his son’s murder.
