Mohanlal’s Thudaram, released on April 25, is performing incredibly well at the box office. The film is turning heads for its amazing storyline, including emotions, suspense, and a lot of drama. Mohanlal has returned to the silver screen with a perfect film to impress his fans, to compensate for his fans who were disappointed with his L2: Empuraan. Thudarum is receiving praise from all around, including audiences and critics.
The film stormed the box office soon after its release, as the movie had the biggest opening weekend for a Malayalam movie. Thudarum collected roughly Rs 28 crore at the domestic box office on its first 3-day opening weekend. And it collected Rs 20 crore gross in just Kerala, its home state.
The movie has collected approximately Rs 41.50 crore overseas, reaching a total of Rs 69.50 crores worldwide. This figure has made Thudaram the second Mollywood movie to have the biggest opening weekend, after Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan, which had a massive collection of Rs 174 crore in its 4-day opening weekend.
It is expected to enter the Rs 100 crore club real soon, maybe in its first week itself, and be the second 100-crore Malayalam grosser of the year, the first being L2: Empuraan.
Thudarum, directed by Tharun Moorthy, is receiving a lot of praise for its story and direction. The film provides great crime drama, suspense, and thriller along with emotional connection in the first half and movie stars Mohanlal and Shobhana’s fantastic performance.
The movie starts with a taxi driver who cherishes his ageing car- an Ambassador, above all. Moving forward, the movie reveals how far he can go to hold his treasure close as the circumstances turn against him.
