IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, has confirmed that some of its international flights continue to be affected because of Pakistan’s decision to shut its airspace to Indian carriers. The IndiGo airline has stated on Friday that it is closely watching the evolving situation and working to lessen the inconvenience caused to flyers.

This airspace restriction that came into effect from Thursday has taken place in view of heightened tension between India and Pakistan after the recent attack in Pahalgam. In retaliation, Pakistan has barred Indian-registered aircraft along with those owned or leased by Indian operators from flying via its airspace.
Delhi to Almaty and Tashkent routes affected
On Thursday, IndiGo had to cancel select international services, including flights from Delhi to Almaty and Tashkent. In a social media post on X, the airline stated, ”Due to our airspace closure by Pakistan, a few of our international flights continue to be impacted. Our teams are working diligently to assess the situation and assist affected customers with the best possible alternatives.”
As per latest update, IndiGo has not released the list of flights that will be affected. International flights that are west bound departing from North Indian airports especially Delhi are expected to be most affected. These flights will now opt for longer routes and will have redirect routes over the Arabian Sea, which may lead to extended travel time and may bring changes in the schedules.
As the situation continues to be tense, IndiGo has advised travellers to stay updated through its official website and social media handles. Further updates from both the airlines and the Indian aviation ministry are expected if closure continues.
