Just like the rest of us, Pedro Pascal is in “active denial” too over the latest episode of The Last of Us Season 2. On Sunday night in the US and Monday morning in India, the second episode titled “Through the Valley” pivoted to a much-dreaded narrative shift. The results? As understated the adjective may seem right now, a MAJOR character was killed off.
Keeping spoilers at bay, we reveal what Pedro Pascal, who co-leads the popular video game-based HBO series with Bella Ramsey told Entertainment Weekly after the devastating character death. Fans of the original action-adventure game series already had a view of what was coming, and so they chose to keep it out of mind, comforting themselves with a false sense of hope. Now that the fated moment is finally here, neither the fans nor the new Mister Fantastic want to accept the reality.
Killing off any character has unavoidable consequences, but this particular death will inevitably alter the course of the The Last of Us story beyond measure. Either way, we should all adopt the Pedro Pascal way of life: “Don’t spend a lot of time thinking about it because it makes me sad.” In what was just a “matter of how and when,” this Last of Us character was always meant to leave us. With that death dropping on us early on, a long road lies ahead before the actual season finale.

That was genuinely one of the best episodes of television ever. The writing, the dialogue, the action, the tension building up, the sense of danger hanging over the entirety of the episode, the action, and ofcourse the incredible acting performances. #TheLastOfUs pic.twitter.com/2bx6M7HNee

Meanwhile, the video game enthusiasts banded together on the platform, finally letting out a sigh of relief after holding in the life-wrecking spoiler: “Dear people who’ve never played #TheLastOfUs: DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG WE HAVE HELD THIS SECRET?!? You’re welcome.” But then, there’s the other side of the same fandom that couldn’t help but share screaming GIFs: a visual representation of “Me watching (redacted) die even though I played the game #TheLastOfUs“

Anyway, it’s confirmed, “this is actually 10x worse than i thought it would be #TheLastOfUs,” as a particular shot from the episode are going to haunt us till time immemorial.
On the other side of ‘stan Twitter,’ The Walking Dead fans crawled out of their figurative graves. They smirked at The Last of Us’ ONLY major character death so far while they continue to carry the colossal baggage of over dozens of sad deaths that changed the show (and their brain chemistry) forever.

The other fan reviews and reactions weren’t as spoiler-free, I’m afraid.
