Akshay Kumar’s latest period drama, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, had a humble start at the Bollywood box office, earning Rs 7.75 crore on its first day, Friday. However, the film witnessed a positive hike in its earnings on Saturday, with Rs 9.50 crore. As of now, the film has crossed the Rs 2.04 crore mark in today’s collection, marking a consistent growth over the weekend.
According to Sacnilk reports, Kesari Chapter 2 earned approximately Rs 2.04 crore (India net) on its third day. The film’s total box office collection stands at Rs 19.54 crore. On April 19, Kesari Chapter 2 saw an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 25.78%. The occupancy rate in the morning saw a footfall of 11.68%, which jumped to 22.91% in the afternoon. However, the film recorded the best starts in the evening and night shows with stats of 26.83% and 41.71% occupancy, respectively.
The occupancy in the region showed a good catch-up with Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, with 56%, 43%, and 37.75%, respectively. However, the NCR region lagged behind at 29.25% occupancy.
Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Pandey are seen in the lead roles in this period drama film. Akshay Kumar plays the role of C. Shankaran Nair, who challenged colonial rule in his quest for justice against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. On the other hand, R. Madhavan plays the role of lawyer Neville McKinley, alongside Ananya Panday, who plays Dilreet Gill.
Among recent releases like Sikandar and Jaat, Kesari 2 has had a decent start at the box office collection over the past two days. However, the film has not performed as strongly as the 2019 film Kesari. But its collections remain higher than those of Jaat and Sikandar at the box office.
