Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava had created history after selling more than ten million tickets on online ticketing service, Book My Show. Despite of crossing the Rs 500 crore mark in theatres, Rajat Rahul Haksar, CEO of August Entertainment, flagged 1,818 internet links where the film was illegally shared. The Mumbai police has filed the FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Copyright Act, Cinematograph Act (Amendment 2023), and the Information Technology Act at South Cyber Police Station.
The anti-piracy agency hired by Maddock Films filed the complaint. Sections 316(2) and 308(3) of the BNS Sections 51, 63, and 65A of the Copyright Act, Section 6AA of the Cinematograph Act, 1952 (Amendment 2023), and Sections 43 and 66 of the Information Technology Act have been mentioned in the FIR.
Chhaava made history crossing Rs 500 crore mark
Inspite of the piracy concerns, the Vicky Kaushal-Rashmika Mandanna starrer made more than Rs 2 crore even after a month of hitting the big screen. Bringing the domestic box-office collection tally to nearly Rs 575 crore, the worldwide collections are aiming to cross Rs 770 crores as per Sacnilk data.
The biggest Bollywood hit of 2025 yet, Chhaava has repeated beat its own records and has become a milestone film for actors Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna and others. Crushing the numbers for other films like Loveyappa, Diplomat and Superboys of Malegaon, Chhaava has had a non-stop streak of shows. As fans await Salman Khan’s action-film Sikander, the piracy concerns seem to be on the rise for Chhaava.
When will Chhaava stream on OTT platforms?
Amid the accusations of piracy against more than 1800 links that were found, fans await the Chhaava’s OTT release. The official streaming partner, Netflix and Maddock Films hint at the OTT release on April 11 which is nearly two months after it hit the big screens worldwide.
