Kesari 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Off to a promising start, Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 hits the big screen today. A sequel to Kesari (2019), the film’s release marks the 106th anniversary of the tragic Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Starring R. Madhavan and Ananya Pandey, this courtroom drama sold nearly 57,000 tickets nationwide in its advance booking run as per Sacnilk reports. Releasing on the Good Friday long-weekend, the film is expected to crush box office records with its gripping plot and perfromances.
Apart from an impressive advance booking record, Kesari Chapter 2 is running over 4,400 shows across India on its release day. States like Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Delhi have given a whopping collection share of over one-third (Rs 1 crore +). Kesari 2 has a maximum Hindi audience with over 50 shows already filling fast in Delhi NCR region and nearly 65 lakh viewers have booked the seats. This Dharma Production stars Ananya Pandey, R. Madhavan, Regina Cassandra, Simon Paisley Day, and Alexx O’Nell in key roles.
Kesari Chapter 2: The sequel
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the Kesari saga is returning to theatres after nearly six years. It is based on lawyer C. Sankaran Nair who took the British to court after the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre of 1919. A chilling period in Indian history, Kesari 2 marks the 106th anniversary of the incident. Early estimates by Sacnilk have shown a Rs 1.59 crore opening day collection thought numbers are likely to change as the day progresses.
The Kesari sequel is based on based on the book ‘The Case That Shook the Empire’ by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. With Akshay Kumar as Sankaran Nair, R. Madhavan plays the the role of Neville McKinley, the British lawyer defending the Crown. Ananya Panday plays a modern character named Dilreet Gill, adding a modern touch to the historical tale of the Indian independence struggle.
