After completing a week’s theatrical run, Sunny Deol’s ‘Jaat’ has earned an estimated Rs 57.50 Crore in India. After making a promising opening of nearly Rs 10 crore on its opening day, the film struggled to reach the double-digits. The highest record for ‘Jaat’ box office collection was on its first Sunday. Grossing over Rs 14 crore, the film also saw an increased occupancy rate of over 40%.
As per Sacnilk reports, Jaipur audiences have the most preference towards the film with an overall occupancy rate of 21%. With a 7.1 IMDb rating, Jaat stars Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, and Jagapathi Babu in key roles. Closing its first week with over Rs 61 crore in collection, the ‘Jaat’ enters Week 2 with Rs 4 crores as per early estimates on its second Thursday.
Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 has also released on the big screen today on April 18. With lowest ever collection numbers yet, the film is facing a massive slump as Kesari 2 collects Rs 3 crore in advance bookings alone. As the Good Friday weekend comes up, the film is likely to face steep competition from the intense courtroom drama surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, also starring Ananya Pandey and R Madhavan.
Sunny Deol’s highest grossing film Gadar 2 made nearly Rs 700 crore in its theatrical run however, the chances of ‘Jaat’ making it to his top five grossers are thin. The actor’s powerful action sequences and commanding screen presence stand out in the film, but the absence of romance and catchy music limits its wider appeal, particularly among female viewers. The movie mainly caters to male audiences in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, especially fans of action.
