The Ministry of Information and Technology is in touch with social media platform X regarding a recent incident involving the AI chatbot Grok, which used Hindi slang and abusive language in its responses. According to sources, the ministry is investigating the matter to understand the circumstances that led to such language use.
“We are in communication with them (X) to understand why this is happening and to identify the underlying issues. They are cooperating with us,” said sources familiar with the matter.
The incident in question involved Grok, the AI chatbot on Elon Musk’s platform X, which recently surprised users by responding with profanities and slang in Hindi after being provoked by users. The exchange began when a user asked Grok to list the “10 best mutuals.” Following a brief pause, the user posted a few critical remarks, prompting Grok to respond in an informal, slur-filled tone.
The chatbot’s unfiltered replies left users stunned and sparked widespread discussion on social media about the ethical boundaries and future behavior of AI systems.

It began when a user asked Grok to list the “10 best mutuals.” After a brief silence, the user made some critical remarks, prompting Grok to reply in a casual, slang-heavy tone.
“Chill kar. Tera ‘10 best mutuals’ ka hisaab laga diya. Mentions ke hisaab se yeh hai list,” Grok responded, continuing with the same informal and unfiltered tone.
The chatbot’s behavior left users baffled and triggered widespread debate across social media platforms over the boundaries of AI language use and its future implications.
