While Air India has not specified the nature of these “developments,” the precautionary move has raised concerns about potential security or operational issues in the region. Passengers scheduled to fly to or from these cities have been advised to check their flight status and reach out to the airline’s support channels for assistance with rebooking or refunds.
In a statement shared on X, the airline said, “In view of the latest developments and keeping your safety in mind, flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot are cancelled for Tuesday, 13th May. We are monitoring the situation and will keep you updated.”
Indigo Airlines announced cancellation of flight operations to multiple cities
Additionally, IndiGo Airlines has also announced the cancellation of all flight operations to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot for Tuesday, May 13, 2025. In a statement shared on X, the airline said, “In light of the latest developments and with your safety as our utmost priority, flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot are cancelled for May 13.”
Acknowledging the disruption this may cause, IndiGo added, “We understand how this may affect your travel plans and deeply regret the inconvenience. Our teams are closely monitoring the situation and will provide timely updates. Please check your flight status on our website or app before heading to the airport. For any assistance, we’re just a call or message away and always ready to help.”
This update came just hours after IndiGo had initially announced the resumption of services on previously closed routes. “In line with the latest government directives, the airports are open for operations. We will progressively commence operations on the previously closed routes,” the airline had said in an earlier advisory.
Meanwhile, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced the reopening of 32 airports across northern and western India for civil flights. These airports had been temporarily closed amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, with the closure initially extended until May 15.
On the security front, the Indian Army confirmed that no enemy drones have been spotted over Indian territory and that the situation remains calm and under full control. Army sources reported that a limited number of drones had entered the Samba sector but were being intercepted. Red streaks and explosions were witnessed as Indian air defences engaged the drones during a power outage in the area. However, officials emphasized that there is no cause for alarm.
